23160 and 23170 Research Seminar preliminary syllabus autumn 2021.pdf23160 and 23170 Research Seminar preliminary syllabus autumn 2021.pdf

Students have asked for the schedule of the spring course. Normally, all information on courses are announced about a week before each course starts. As an exception, I  am posting a planned schedule for the spring course in 2022. See pdf file. The syllabus will be posted when we have a dedicated Moodle page and I have had to time to set it up.

This is a joint Moodle page for the courses 23160 (Seminarium för studerande i svenska programmet) and 23170 (Research Seminar, Marketing track of B&M Specialisation). All information is in English, but the two groups are separated for seminars and course work, with separate places to submit assignments.

Students in the Swedish Programme sign up for the 23160 Seminarium, if they write in Swedish, and perform all assignments in Swedish.

Students in the Swedish Programme who write in English, and perform all assignments in English, as well as students in the Business and Management Marketing Programme, sign up for the 23170 Research Seminar course and write everything in English.

Students in the Swedish Programme who wish to write in English, need to fulfill the requirements set by Hanken. The department does not check the requirements. They are checked only when you hand in your thesis. https://www.hanken.fi/sv/studerande/program-och-studier/magisterstudier/magisteravhandling/magisteravhandling-pa-engelska-0

There will be two separate introductions in Teams, with the same message. 23170 at 10.30-11.45 and 23160 at 14.15-15.45.

There is no Moodle key to the course. Sign up early in Oodi! All students, who have signed up for the course by 26.8 in Oodi will receive a Teams invitation to the introduction. Latecomers need to get the link from student friends.

You need to know what you are going to write about in your thesis when you sign up. Writing starts immediately and you are expected to have an almost ready thesis by the end of the course. If you do not know what to write about, or if you are not prepared to work towards a finished thesis within the coming 6-8 months, take the next course.

Course aim: The course aims to support the writing of the master's thesis in your major subject. During the course you receive support and individual counseling from your thesis supervisor for producing a thesis. You also get feedback from your co-students when presenting your own master thesis project in your seminar group. The course contains individual counselling and group discussions. During the course you will partly work on your own thesis, partly review and comment your co-student’s thesis projects.
